It's all a bit confusing, I will let you all know what turns up an if it is of any use. I have ordered 100g of potassium sulphide from thrivechem as it is described as Potassium sulphide (poly) which Rose Chemicals describe as potassium polysulphide. NAFLD is associated with obesity and metabolic syndrome, but its pathophysiology is complex and only partly understood. Decant the liquid off any small lumps of sulphur which remain undissolved.ĭoes this give me a 100% solution of sodium polysulfide? which I can then mix 7.5 ml sodium polysulfide solution to 17.5ml water to make 25ml of 30% solution. The prevalence of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) is increasing and approximately 25 of the global population may have NAFLD. Continue to boil the mixture and stir until the sulphur has dissolved to give a dark red-brown solution of sodium polysulphide. Add the 8 g of sulphur and a drop of washing up liquid to help the sulphur mix with the aqueous solution. Heat the sodium hydroxide solution until it is boiling. When the solid form is mixed with water, a smelly gas (like rotten eggs) called hydrogen sulfide is released. Liver of Sulfur is the classic darkening patina for bronze, brass, and copper. What is Liver of Sulfur (LOS) Liver of sulfur is mostly potassium sulphide. Liver of Sulfur is sold as a powder in 2oz., 4oz., and 16oz. It also contains selenium dioxide and hydrochloric acid. Make a solution of 5 g of sodium hydroxide in 100 cm3 of water. Gun Blue just happens to be a convenient copper sulphate solution. The instructions I have to make sodium polysulfide are: I am not a chemist, your recipe calls for 25ml of Sodium polysulfide, 30% soln. Please do not heat the solution or add it to acid as the material reacts (with acid or steam) to evolve hydrogen sulfide gas, which is toxic, flammable, explosive, and even corrosive when moist. XL Gel is non-flammable and poses no dry inhalation hazard. XL Gel is used to Patina metals such as silver, copper, bronze, or metal clay. XL Gels shelf life is many times that of dry liver of sulphur and is not degraded by light or air. however I will keep them in my bookmarks for future reference. Liver of sulphur is not 'lime sulphur', calcium polysulfide, but is a synonym for potassium polysulfide or potash sulphurated. Liver of Sulfur XL gel is formulated for versatility and convenience. what they are selling as "Liver Of Sulfur" is listed as sodium polysulfide while this would be useful for Gerald's recipe it looks like it would be a pain to get it shipped as they ask for ID card details (thankfully we don't have ID cards in the UK) and won't provide an online quote for shipping to the UK. The gel form makes it easy to use and less mess with better. Jochen: I looked up "Kremer Pigmente" they appear to have a very useful selection of chemicals. This Liver of Sulphur gel is formulated for extended shelf life, versatility, and convenience.
